'Gas explosion' rips through house in Manchester as emergency services rush to the scene

Emergency services have raced to the scene of a suspected gas explosion that has ripped through a house in Manchester.

The blast on Tameside Avenue in Droylsden happened on Tuesday morning.

Images shared on social media show significant damage to the property, with the roof and windows blown out.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service tweeted that crews were at the scene.

The gas supply has been isolated, and the area has been cordoned off.

There are no reports of any injuries at this stage.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a suspected gas explosion on Tameside Avenue, Droylsden, at 10:35 am this morning.

"Three fire engines from Ashton, Gorton, and Hyde attended the incident.

"The gas supply has been isolated, and the area has been cordoned off.

"There are no reports of any injuries at this stage, and our crews are working to make the scene safe."

The cause of the explosion is not yet known, and an investigation is underway.
