Evan Rodrigues: NHL Player on the Rise
Early Life and Career
Evan Rodrigues was born on July 28, 1993, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He began playing hockey at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks of minor hockey. In 2009, he joined the Toronto Marlboros of the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), where he played for two seasons.
In 2011, Rodrigues was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round (124th overall) of the NHL Entry Draft. He spent the next two seasons playing for the Boston College Eagles of the NCAA Division I.
NHL Career
Rodrigues made his NHL debut with the Buffalo Sabres in the 2014-15 season. He played in 18 games, recording one assist. In the following season, he played in 45 games and recorded 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists). In the 2017-18 season, Rodrigues broke out with a career-high 29 points (9 goals, 20 assists) in 74 games.
In February 2019, Rodrigues was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played in 52 games with the Penguins, recording 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists). In the 2019-20 season, Rodrigues played in 60 games with the Penguins, recording 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists).
Recent News and Highlights
In September 2022, Rodrigues signed a one-year contract with the Florida Panthers. He has played in 50 games with the Panthers, recording 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists)
On February 11, 2023, Rodrigues scored his 100th career NHL point in a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
