Hockey Canada Updates Dressing Room Policy

Hockey Canada updates Dressing Room Policy

New policy prohibits players from dressing under equipment

Policy applies to all minor hockey teams sanctioned by Hockey Canada

Hockey Canada has updated its Dressing Room Policy to prohibit minor hockey players from putting on their base layer of clothing under their hockey equipment inside the dressing room. Players will now have to use a designated space, such as a bathroom stall, to put on their base layer. The policy applies to all minor hockey teams sanctioned by Hockey Canada and its members.

The policy is intended to provide "a safe and respectful environment for all participants" and to "reduce the risk of abuse and harassment." Hockey Canada says that the policy was developed in consultation with experts in child abuse prevention and hockey operations.

The policy has been met with mixed reactions. Some parents and coaches have expressed concern that the policy is too restrictive and that it will make it more difficult for players to get ready for games. Others have welcomed the policy, saying that it is a necessary step to protect children from abuse and harassment.

Hockey Canada says that it will continue to monitor the implementation of the policy and make adjustments as needed.
